"A picture is worth a thousand words." Photos and movies can give greater depth to your journal entries.
Add photos & movies
On your iPhone, iPad
- Tap the More button (···) at the top of a journal entry and choose Insert Photo. A media browser will appear so you can select photos stored on your device.
On your Mac
- Tap the More button (···) at the top of a journal entry and choose Insert Photo. A file chooser will appear so you can choose a file stored on your Mac.
- Tip: it may be easier to drag photos from the Photos app or a different app and drop them on your journal entry.
Note: if you add a photo to a journal entry and the photo was created on a different date/location than the entry, Lifecraft will ask if you want to change the journal entry date/location to match the photo.
Choose a destination
When you add a photo to a journal entry, Lifecraft will ask where you want to insert the photo:
1. In the entry text
When you insert a photo in the entry text, the uncropped photo becomes part of the text. This is useful if you want text to appear next to the related photo.
2. In the Media Gallery at the top of the entry
When a photo is added to the Media Gallery, a square thumbnail will appear in a scrolling view at the top of the entry. This is useful if you want the entry text and photos to be separated.
Photo options
There are some options available for photos that are inserted in the entry text, including the ability to resize the photo.
On your iPhone, iPad
- Touch and hold the photo in the entry text.
- A preview and menu will appear.
- Choose an option.
On your Mac
- Click the photo in the entry text.
- A contextual menu will appear.
- Select View to open the Photo Viewer.
- Choose an option.
View photos
On your iPhone, iPad
- View a photo: tap a photo to open the Photo Viewer.
- Navigate to other photos: swipe left/right.
- Draw on a photo: if the photo is in the entry text, you'll see a Draw button
. Tap it to open the Drawing tools so you can draw on top of the photo.
- Delete a photo: tap the Delete button
.
- Close the Photo Viewer: swipe down or tap the X button.
On your Mac
- View a photo in the Media Gallery: click the to open the Photo Viewer.
- View a photo in the entry text: click the photo to open the contextual menu (see Photo Options above), then choose View to open the Photo Viewer.
- Navigate to other photos: click the left/right arrows to view other photos in the journal entry.
- Download a photo: to save the photo as a file on your hard drive, click the Download button

- Delete a photo: click the Delete button
